Virginia Rail Bird Collides With Building

Virginia rail bird held in hands being syringe-fedThe following story was shared with us by Ohio Wildlife Center in Ohio.

One of our dedicated volunteers found this bird on the Ohio State University campus during their monitoring for their Lights Out program. Lights Out is a monitoring program to collect birds that collide with buildings during migration.

This Virginia rail was admitted on October 28, 2020. It had collided with a stationary object walls/window and suffered from head trauma. It was treated at our wildlife hospital. With the aid of EmerAid IC Carnivore, this patient was able to be released back into the wild to continue on its migration.
