Sandhill Crane Requires Rehab After Being Struck By Car

The following story about a sandhill crane was submitted by the Marine Science Center in Florida.

This baby sandhill crane came to us from DeBary, Florida after having been struck by a car. The bird received 30 mL EmerAid IC Omnivore twice daily until it began to feed on its own.

On intake, this baby weighed 656 grams (about 1.4 pounds). We transferred the bird to another facility at 1.4 kilograms (about 3 pounds) for further care in a flight enclosure.
