Gray Fox With Unusual Condition

gray fox wrapped in blankets shows only headThe following story about a gray fox was shared with us by Napa Wildlife Rescue of California.

This was an unusual case. We received a gray fox covered in ticks and paralyzed up to his face. While he couldn’t move, we syringe-fed him EmerAid IC Carnivore to give him something he could eat.

Once all the ticks were removed, he recovered and was leaping in 48 hours. It was a tick paralysis case, which is unusual for us.

While tick paralysis is a condition known to affect dogs and other canids, it was the first time we had seen this condition. We were happy to see it resolve so quickly and send the fox back home.
