Cottontail Rabbit Baby Is Lone Survivor

A baby cottontail came to our facility on August 18, 2024, after her nest had been compromised by a cat. The baby’s siblings had all been killed, and she was the lone survivor. The baby hadn’t been found for almost a day and arrived dehydrated and emaciated.

She immediately received subcutaneous lactated ringers and Baytril, and was placed in an incubator. Once hydrated and warmed, her initial nutrition was EmerAid IC Herbivore for her first feedings. She eventually was introduced to formula once her emaciated condition improved.

After becoming stable she began formula but continued to receive EmerAid IC Herbivore in her lapping dish to provide the needed extra nutrition.

She quickly improved, achieved maturity, and was released back into the wild.

This is just one example of the numerous baby cottontail rabbits that have been rescued in my care whose lives were saved by the availability of EmerAid IC Herbivore.
