The following story about wood ducks was shared with us by Greenwood Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Colorado.

A clutch of six orphaned wood ducklings came to Greenwood after they were found wandering alone. Their rescuer patiently waited for two hours, but unfortunately their mother never returned.

Upon arrival, our licensed rehabilitators gave the orphans a thorough checkup. With a clean bill of health, they were placed in an indoor, short-term enclosure. Thanks to EmerAid IC Herbivore, the fledglings thrived. They were tube-fed this highly nutritious supplemental diet that helped them thrive daily.

Once they had put on enough grams and started growing their juvenile feathers, they were ready for the next phase: outdoor beaches. These specialized enclosures were set up with a variety of substrates to protect their webbed feet. Once they were fully acclimated and independent, these beautiful birds returned to their rightful place in the wild.
