Eastern Cottontail Rabbit Vs. Car

An adult Eastern cottontail rabbit came into care after a suspected hit-by-car incident. The rabbit suffered from head trauma/head tilt.

Before arriving at our facility, the rabbit spent two days with the finder. In addition to the head injury, he was dehydrated and hadn’t eaten in days, but he was alert.

After stabilization, including rehydration and treatment for pain and inflammation, we offered EmerAid IC Herbivore, assisting him with the first few feedings as needed.

By the next morning he was significantly more stable. After gradually implementing solid foods, we are happy to report he has improved and is on his way to recovery and release!
