Young Bobcat Found At Roadside

A young, female bobcat was found on the road next to her deceased mother and sibling on June 6, 2022. Luckily, a kind man found her and contacted our wildlife center to get advice on how to safely capture and transport her to our clinic for care.

Upon intake, she was found to be slightly emaciated and dehydrated, but otherwise healthy. To ensure that she received enough easily digestible calories to properly grow and develop, she was given a mixture of formula, EmerAid IC Carnivore, and pieces of meat as a diet for her first couple of weeks.

Once she was a little older, she was moved to an outdoor, pre-release enclosure with lots of branches and places to hide.

This was the first young bobcat that our center had ever treated, so we contacted Pocono Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center (PWREC) to ensure that we were giving her the best possible care.

Because bobcats typically stay with their mothers for many months and PWREC has more extensive outdoor caging to house many bobcats at once, she was transferred there to continue to mature until she is ready to be released.
