Young American Kestrel Falls From Nest

close up on face of American kestrel held in handsThe following story about an American kestrel was shared with us by the World Bird Sanctuary in Missouri.

This young American kestrel was found out of the nest still too young to fly. Not knowing any better, the finders tried to care for the bird themselves before taking him to a rehabilitator. They fed him a mix of pureed hot dog and oatmeal, a very poor combination for a bird.

The bird had not been getting enough calories from his time with the finders and had gastrointestinal problems from the processed and inappropriate food items he was being fed. EmerAid IC Carnivore was easy on the kestrel’s digestive system as we got everything else flushed out of his system.

He was able to gain weight and get rehydrated thanks to regular tubings of EmerAid. This American kestrel was successfully released back to the wild after seven weeks in care.
