A nest of three kingbirds were brought to Sandy’s Haven when their home tree was removed. Their weights were 36 grams, 39 grams, and 38 grams (about 1.3 to 1.4 ounces) on intake.

Staff at Sandy’s Haven placed this group on a feeding regimen of EmerAid Intensive Care Carnivore according to instructions. Western kingbirds feed mainly on insects.

Once the birds were self-feeding and ready to fly, they were transferred to another facility that had a flock of similarly aged juveniles to complete their rehabilitation.

Transfer weights were as follows: 39 grams, 43 grams, and 41.6 grams (about 1.4 to 1.5 ounces).
