Tricolored Bat Found!

On August 22, 2023, our wildlife center received a very special patient, a male tricolored bat. He was found on the side of a jazz club in downtown Pittsburgh.

The bat was fairly emaciated at only 5.2 grams (about 0.18 ounces) and dehydrated. He was fed a mixture of EmerAid IC Carnivore for 48 hours prior to introducing solid food.

After the 48 hours, we carefully trained him how to eat mealworms out of a bowl on his own so that we could allow him to recover without disturbance.

Once he fully recovered and was up to 9.6 grams (about 0.34 ounces) in weight, he was able to be released into Point State Park on September 14.
