Tomasso The Temminck’s Pangolin Rescued From Suitcase

pangolin held while being tube fedThe following story about a Temminck’s pangolin was submitted by Johannesburg Wildlife Veterinary Hospital in South Africa.

We recently received an adult, male Temminck’s pangolin after a sting operation. He was apparently kept in a suitcase and was extremely emaciated.

He underwent our streamlined pangolin protocol when he arrived, and his condition is being monitored carefully while he is under our care.

Given the dry conditions and lack of ants in our area, as well as his already compromised state, he is regularly being tube-fed with EmerAid IC Carnivore as well as being taken out foraging for ants and termites.

PLEASE NOTE: All pangolin patients are housed off site at our Investec undisclosed location for the protection of them as well as our staff.
