The following story about a short-snouted grass snake was submitted by Johannesburg Wildlife Veterinary Hospital in South Africa.
This juvenile, short-snouted grass snake (Psammophis brevirostris) was attacked by a cat and immediately brought to us for assistance.
Weighing in at only 74 grams (about 2.6 ounces), this dinky patient was placed on a microscopic amount of pain meds, given subcutaneous fluids, and treated for the puncture wounds.
While under our care, he was fed with EmerAid IC Carnivore to ensure his nutritional needs were met.
The little snake made a full recovery and was released.
