A suburban-living Southern African hedgehog (Atelerix frontalis) was caught by a dog, and the wounds became infected. Arriving rather dehydrated, this hedgehog received subcutaneous fluids and was placed on a regimen of antibiotics, as well as pain management.

The wound was carefully cleaned and has been kept clear of flies with the assistance of F10 ointment and spray.

Initially, the hedgehog was not really gaining weight, we therefore opted to syringe feed him with EmerAid IC Carnivore. Subsequently, his appetite came back with a vengeance, and he began devouring a variety of insects!

His wound has healed so well, and he will be released soon.
