Robin Recovers From Spinal Injury

robin and other birds standing on sheet with food on the groundThe following story about a robin was shared with us by the Bird Center of Michigan.

When we get in severely injured spinal cases like this car-collision robin, the patient is unable to even eat on her own without assistance.

We fed her EmerAid IC Carnivore to keep the bird’s weight stable until she could self-feed again and began regaining use of her hind limbs. Then she was able to forage for herself and eventually be released back into the wild.

Without the help of formulas like EmerAid, patients like this one couldn’t survive the original trauma and recovery necessary to return to the wild.

This photo shows the robin (back right) after recovering and joining other patients pre-release.
