The following story about a pied-billed grebe was shared with us by Wildcare Eastern Sierra in California.

This pied-billed grebe was found stranded in the community pool in Trona, California. The pool was too small to allow for him to take flight, leaving him stranded in the chlorinated water. By the time he was rescued, his waterproofing was severely compromised.

He was transported to Wildcare Eastern Sierra in Bishop, California. Here at the center, he received several baths to improve his waterproofing so he could be returned to the wild.

During his time here, the pied-billed grebe was uninterested in eating the food that we offered him. To make sure he was still getting enough calories, and as an extra boost before release, Wildcare gavage-fed him EmerAid IC Piscivore. After he was waterproof and fed, he was released back with other pied-billed grebes.
