Natal Spurfowl Recovers After Possible Window Hit

Natal spurfowl being held and tube-fedThe following story about a Natal spurfowl was submitted by Johannesburg Wildlife Veterinary Hospital in South Africa.

A Natal spurfowl (Pternistis natalensis) was dropped off by one of our suppliers recently after they found it injured.

We found injuries on his wrists, consistent with possibly flying into a window. This also left him slightly dazed.

During the first few days with us, he wasn’t eating, so we tubed him with EmerAid IC Omnivore.
