Natal Spurfowl Recovers After Possible Window Hit

The following story about a Natal spurfowl was submitted by Johannesburg Wildlife Veterinary Hospital in South Africa.

A Natal spurfowl (Pternistis natalensis) was dropped off by one of our suppliers recently after they found it injured.

We found injuries on his wrists, consistent with possibly flying into a window. This also left him slightly dazed.

During the first few days with us, he wasn’t eating, so we tubed him with EmerAid IC Omnivore.

Once he began eating on his own again, and behaving like a normal spurfowl, we were able to release him back to where he came from.
