Meet A Senior Coyote

coyote being restrainedThe following story was shared with us by Napa Wildlife Rescue in California.

This coyote came in ancient and emaciated. Animal control was able to get her out from under a car, but she was too weak to do much other than turn around and lie back down.

Initially we started her digestive system going again with fluids and EmerAid Intensive Care Carnivore. She had no problem deciding that it was food and good to eat.

Ultimately a consult with the veterinarian showed that she had multiple age-related conditions and complications that would make release inhumane.

It is an honor to meet old wild animals. They face such challenges in daily life. Coyotes face a lot of persecution for being adaptive opportunists, so it’s exciting to know that some make it to old age.
