Mallard Male Injured

A male mallard duck was brought to Sandy’s Haven with an injured leg. He was also very thin and weak.

The drake was given fluids and a low dose of pain medications. Once dehydration was corrected, additional pain medications were given, and the leg was treated.

Initially, he was not eating on his own. We elected to tube-feed him with EmerAid Intensive Care Omnivore for several days. Once he was self-feeding, we top-dressed his feed with the EmerAid.

Once he recovered, the mallard was relesed near the water source where he was found.
