The summer of 2021 on the Oregon coast was all about murre chicks! Over the course of the months of July through September, the wild bird-rehabilitation department of the Oregon Coast Aquarium received 125 common murres through its doors.

These murres were 99 percent fledglings that were in some stage of starvation. With the use of EmerAid IC Piscivore, we were able to stabilize 50 of these young birds and get them onto solid food.

Once stabilized and eating solid food, the birds were transferred for further care and potential release to our rehabilitation partners at the Wildlife Center of the North Coast.
