Hundreds Of House Finches Saved Each Year

hungry house finchesThe following story was shared with us by The Bird Rescue Center of Sonoma County.

The Bird Rescue Center treats on average 3,000 patients per year, with a majority of these individuals coming in as injured, orphaned, or ill babies from April through September. Each year, house finches are among our top five most commonly admitted species, with an annual average of about 200!

We simply could not rehabilitate this number of finches without our trusted EmerAid IC Carnivore. Every baby finch (hatchling through fledgling) that makes its way through our Center is hand-fed a formula diet, with EmerAid IC Carnivore being one of two main ingredients.

House finches can be incredibly difficult to raise in a rehabilitation setting due their increased risk for crop stasis/infection and sudden finch death. However, The Bird Rescue Center has a 70 to 75percent success rate with this species. We credit a huge amount of our success to our trusted diet and the high nutritional value our patients receive through the use of EmerAid IC Carnivore during the hand-rearing process.
