Hoary Bat’s Hibernation Disturbed

hoary bat lying down being tube fedThe following story about a hoary bat was shared with us by The Stanislaus Wildlife Care Center in California.

This hoary bat was brought in recently and is being held until spring due to weather. It is otherwise considered releasable.

The bat was disturbed during hibernation and then kept awake in a bucket for several days by someone before it was brought in.

It took two and a half days on EmerAid Intensive Care Carnivore and an incubator to get this bat back on his feet. This patient in particular was quite happy with the diet and destroyed a few syringes in his eagerness to eat.
