Grounded Western Grebe Suffers Calorie Emergency

western grebe paddling in an enclosed stallThe following story about a western grebe was shared with us by Discovery Bay Wild Bird Rescue in Washington State.

This very wet western grebe came in from a parking lot where it mistakenly came down and then was grounded.

Upon initial examination, we found it weighed less than 700 grams (about 1.5 pounds). This meant it needed to be slowly reintroduced to calories.

This is where EmerAid IC Piscivore comes in. We started feeding with that and were slowly able to help the bird regain its strength. Then we reintroduced some fish to its diet.

Thanks for making such an important product for rehabilitators who deal with these aquatic wonders.
