The following story about a great-horned owl was shared with us by Wildlife In Need Center in Wisconsin.
This juvenile, male great-horned owl was admitted in critical condition to Wildlife In Need Center. He was found on a golf course, so we suspect he (unknowingly) ate a poisoned rodent.
On intake he weighed 880 grams (about 1.9 pounds), and we started feeding EmerAid IC Carnivore food by gavage. It took more than a week for him to be stable enough to eat on his own.
Eventually he made a full recovery and was released weighing 1.2 kilograms (about 2.6 pounds).
The photos show him after three days in care and after a full recovery.
