Golden Eagle Suffers From Poison

golden eagle standing on perch in outdoor cageThe following story about a golden eagle was shared with us by New Mexico Wildlife Center.

This first-year golden eagle was found in late August grounded and emaciated with no obvious injuries. Her bloodwork showed that she was the victim of rodenticide poisoning.

Due to her poor body condition, she was given fluids and fed EmerAid IC Carnivore for her first week in stay to provide easily digestible nutrients and to avoid refeeding syndrome. She progressed well with this treatment and was able to transition to solid prey shortly after.

After completing her treatments, she rebuilt her strength in a large flight enclosure and was returned home on December 4, 2022!
