The following story was shared with us by the Wildlife Care Clinic at Iowa State University.
This fox squirrel was admitted in late December after a member of the public housed her in a bucket for a week.
The squirrel was dehydrated and underweight due to a lack of proper diet. The squirrel had fallen out of a tree, which resulted in neurologic issues from trauma. She had a body lean toward the left and limited use of her front left leg on admit.
Until her neurologic symptoms improved, she would not self-feed. Due to this, we syringe-fed her using a smoothie mixture made out of EmerAid Intensive Care Omnivore, fruit, and vegetables.
A month into care, her neurologic symptoms had almost completely resolved. She is currently in our outdoor caging acclimating to the weather prior to release.
