Flap-Neck Chameleon Needs Food And Hydration

flap neck chameleon held in hands being syringe-fedThe following story about a flap-neck chameleon was submitted by Johannesburg Wildlife Veterinary Hospital in South Africa.

This confiscated flap-neck chameleon (Chamaeleo dilepis) was brought to us for rehabilitation and release. An examination revealed that he was underweight and dehydrated.

He was rehydrated, and we initially had to tube-feed him with EmerAid IC Carnivore to assist in his recovery.

In the days that followed he was happy to eat on his own and went through a normal shed.
