Debilitated Bonaparte’s Gull Gets Healthy

woman releasing a Bonaparte's gull in field after rehabThe following story about a Bonaparte’s gull was shared with us by Save Our Seabirds in Florida.

This Bonaparte’s gull came to Save Our Seabirds on February 22, 2023. It was found down and unable to fly near the airport.

The patient was very thin and weak, and had a slight neurological tremor that indicated possible red tide toxicity.

Due to the gull’s debilitated state, it was given careful nutritional support with Emeraid IC Piscivore for several days, in addition to fluid therapy, medications, and lots of rest.

While the bird’s prognosis was initially guarded, it made a great recovery and was released on March 22nd. He decided to stop and preen before flying off in the release video, but he did eventually fly off like a champ!
