Chimney Swift Chicks Lose Nest

several chimney swift chicks in a basketThe following story about chimney swifts was shared with us by Bird Center of Michigan in Michigan.

These young chimney swifts were brought to the Bird Center of Michigan after their nest was unfortunately destroyed. They were incredibly weak on intake, and two were not strong enough to eat their normal diet, which consists of a variety of feeder insects.

In order to get them to regain their strength, we feed EmerAid IC Carnivore food. We fed both in a syringe and then by dipping the insects in the formula for added nutrition to get the birds to a reasonable weight.

After a few days, the chimney swifts were greatly improved and were switched to their insect diet.
