The following story about a Canada goose was shared with us by Gold Country Wildlife Rescue in California.

An adult Canada goose came into Gold Country Wildlife Center in mid-December 2023 from El Dorado Hills, California. Upon examination, our technicians found a giant hook stuck in his cheek and the back of his tongue. He was emaciated due to not being able to eat from the hook. He weighed 2,700 grams (about 6 pounds).

We quickly began treatment, removing the hook, medicating him, and beginning his supplementation of EmerAid IC Carnivore.

We tube-feed emaciated patients EmerAid IC Carnivore starting at 2%, working our way up to 5% daily. This is done as long as our patient is making positive improvements and showing healthy signs of body functions.

After a few weeks of intensive care, this Canada goose reached a whopping 3,610 grams (about 8 pounds) was released back into the wild on January 1, 2024.
