Barn Owl With Numerous Health Issues Recovers With Help

On February 4, the Progressive Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) received an adult barn owl that arrived weak and with a fractured clavicle. The patient was also suspected to be suffering from anticoagulant rodenticide poisoning.

The bird was not handling force-feeds, so we started EmerAid IC Carnivore tube feedings. We were able to stabilize and provide the required nutrition until he started self-feeding.

The EmerAid diet was essential to saving this bird’s life, as he was too weak to process whole foods on intake but really needed the calories to recover.
