The following story about barn owls was shared with us by Wildcare Eastern Sierra in California.

In April, a woman in Inyo County bought a stack of hay and had it transported to her property. Upon receiving the hay, she found that there was a nest of four baby barn owls who had been transported away from their parents. She contacted Wildcare Eastern Sierra and transported them to our center.

By the time Wildcare received the babies, they had been without food for four days! Wildcare tube-fed the baby barn owls with EmerAid IC Carnivore to help get them nutrients quickly after the long time without food. Wildcare weaned them back onto whole food over the next couple of days. The babies reacted well and were able to pick up and eat the food on their own within only a short period of time.

The baby barn owls spent the next several months at Wildcare Eastern Sierra growing up and learning to hunt. They were released back in the wild in June.
