Raccoon Needs Round-The-Clock Care

After a difficult spring intake and busy summer, I once again found myself with a critically injured animal that needed special care. It started with a call from Animal Control, which had found a juvenile raccoon that was very emaciated, weak, and sick looking. I had them take her to my vet for blood work and an X-ray.

This raccoon was suffering from pneumonia and was so sick she was basically almost dead. She needed antibiotics and food but was extremely weak. I opted for an esophageal tube placement to make sure she received enough nutrients and medication. After the vet placed the tube, I took the raccoon home and began my regimen of antibiotics, formula and my go-to EmerAid IC Carnivore.

It took weeks with around-the-clock care to get this poor raccoon healthy enough for tube removal. She was a mere 1.5 pounds when found. At her vet visit for suture removal she weighed in at 3.25 pounds and had grown bigger and taller. The vet was amazed at her transformation and asked what I used to get weight on her so fast. I again owe the nutritional gain to EmerAid for having such amazing products that are formulated species-specific.
