Injury And Parasites Trouble A Young Blue Jay

young blue jay with bandaged legThe following story about a blue jay was shared with us by Greenwood Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Colorado.

An orphaned blue jay was found in a nest on the ground, near a perished sibling. It came to our center covered in mites, dehydrated, thin, and with a fractured leg.

Our medical team got to work wrapping its injury, treating its parasites, providing fluids, and hand-feeding it a specialty formula, including EmerAid, so it could pack on a few grams.

Later, this little blue jay returned to full health and flew off into the wild once again.
