Injuries Prevent Snowy Owl From Flying

This snowy owl was found in some horse stables covered in manure and unable to fly. The people who found her were able to contain the owl and bring her into the Dane County Humane Society’s Wildlife Center.

When the owl first arrived at the Wildlife Center, she was severely emaciated, dehydrated, and had suffered some eye trauma.

Because the owl was not motivated to eat, she was started on gavage-feedings of EmerAid Intensive Care Carnivore. This provided the vital nutrients the owl so desperately needed. The snowy owl soon began to eat the mice provided to her, and her eye injury healed.

She remained at the Wildlife Center until her body condition improved and was released after only a couple of months in care.
