Eurasian Collared Dove

dove in a corner, plants in foregroundThis dove arrived at Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation on December 13, 2017, after being caught by a cat. The bird sustained a clavicle fracture, multiple wounds, and multiple missing feathers. He was treated with antibiotics, pain medication, and a wing wrap.

He was not eating very well for the first few weeks after admission. He was started on tube feedings of EmerAid Intensive Care Omnivore twice a day to help stimulate eating. His weight went from 133 grams up to 150 grams and he eventually started to self-feed.

He was released on January 27, 2018.
