The following story about a great horned owl was shared with us by Wildcare Eastern Sierra in California.

In early August, Wildcare Eastern Sierra admitted a great horned owl from Ridgecrest, California.

He had been trapped inside of an airplane hangar. Upon examination, the owl was very emaciated and had some signs of a soft tissue wing injury. Wildcare started him on an emaciation protocol of subcutaneous fluids and EmerAid Intensive Care Carnivore. Within several days, he was feeling stronger and was weaned back onto a whole food diet.

The great horned owl was slowly moved along to larger and larger caging, and was eventually flying and ready for release back to his home. He was released back in Ridgecrest in early September.
