Orphaned Red-Tailed Hawk Paired With Surrogate

This orphaned baby red-tailed hawk fell from its nest this summer. On arrival at our center, the baby was very thin and full of parasites.

Our center has a rather robust surrogate program, and so this bird was sent here to be placed with our female, adult surrogate red-tail whom we call “Ruby.”

We started the bird on EmerAid IC Carnivore initially until it was stronger and we were able to move it to solid food.

After being with the adult for a few months, the bird was able to learn to hunt and be released!
