Grounded Ruddy Ducks Regain Weight

These two North American ruddy ducks were found grounded in a parking lot with minor abrasions from their landing.

Despite efforts to get them to self-feed in captivity and them appearing to eat a little on their own, they were dropping in weight. Intestinal parasites were ruled out.

We provided supplemental feeding with EmerAid IC Omnivore and EmerAid IC Carnivore to raise their weight. Within a few days they were able to be released back into the wild.
