Hatchling Mourning Doves Without Parents

We are a non-profit, wildlife rehabilitation organization based in Decatur, GA. Our mission is to rehabilitate and release injured and/or orphaned native birds.

In March of this year, we received a pair of hatchling mourning doves from a rescuer in Metro-Atlanta. The baby birds were found near the front doorstep during high winds and rain. The parents were unable to be located and, considering their age and fragility, the rescuer called upon us for rehabilitation assistance.

Upon intake, we performed our routine examination and found they were in excellent condition and without injury.

Due to their small size, we used a baby bird formula that includes EmerAid IC Carnivore to assist with weight gain. We have had great success using this product for our baby birds where it’s important that they put weight on to support growth.

We are happy to report that as of the time of this story submission, the little doves are growing and doing very well in our care.
