A barn owl (Tyto alba) was recently found at Kream Restaurant, Mall of Africa. With the help of one of our animal ambulance team members, the owl was brought to our hospital for assistance.

An examination and blood tests pointed toward severe muscle injury. He was in shock and hypoglycemic on arrival, but after 24 hours on IV fluids and EmerAid IC Carnivore tube feeding, he was feeling much better.

He is now eating well on his own and his blood tests show a huge improvement. He will soon be released back into the wild.
