This magnificent being, an adult male white stork (Ciconia ciconia), was brought to us by the Alberton SPCA, Gauteng, after a member of the public found it stranded next to a very busy road.

Following a medical examination, we suspected rodenticide poisoning. We immediately started this stork on IV fluids and vitamin K injections. The vitamin K is the treatment for rodenticide toxicity.

While he has been too sick to eat on his own, we have been tube-feeding him with EmerAid IC Carnivore. We hope that he begins eating on his own soon.
