SPCA Rustenburg became aware of a python in desperate need of help. Someone was trying to sell her for 3,000 South African rands (about $162 U.S. dollars). This large female Southern African python (Python natalensis) was kept in a metal box for quite some time.

With the assistance of the Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism, and Environmental Affairs, the snake was confiscated and brought to our hospital.

We have been treating Rainha (which we have named her) for dehydration, a wound on her face (with the assistance of F10 Products), and emaciation. With the assistance of EmerAid IC Carnivore, she has gained 2.5 kg (about 5.5 pounds) in the last few weeks. She was released after recovery.
