After a big storm, this adult Cory’s Shearwater was found and brought to the Florida Keys Wild Bird Center on December 1, 2023.

On our intake exam, we found that he had head trauma and was emaciated. His weight was 400 grams (about 14.1 ounces), which is half the average weight for his species.

We started him on EmerAid IC Piscivore food for two days, starting at 3 percent of his body weight and working up to 5 percent.
