A Nest Of Finch Nestlings

We are a nonprofit, wildlife rehabilitation organization based in Decatur, Georgia. Our mission is to rehabilitate and release injured and/or orphaned songbirds.

In April, we received a nest of orphaned finches. Finches are a bit unusual in that they tend to nest near humans. On porches, in light fixtures — we even had someone call to tell us that there was a nest in their door wreath.

We receive a large volume of calls to rescue and rehabilitate finches. In fact, they are in our top five of birds for which we provide care.

Upon intake, we weigh all baby birds and have a protocol in place to monitor weight gain over time. Our finch baby bird formula uses EmerAid IC Carnivore as a key ingredient to assist with the weight gain and nutrition needed to facilitate a bird’s development.

After one week with us, these little guys are continuing to grow with the formula diet and will eventually be weaned to a seed diet.
