Vivian, who runs the rescue, notes that of 30 cats there at the time, 19 perished and 11 were saved. She posted this information in a February 8 update at a GoFundMe campaign to benefit the rescue.

“We will honor the cats that died January 7th, by continuing to rescue cats,” Vivian writes.

Vivian especially requested that people keep Guacamole in their thoughts, because he’s still at the emergency vet in Silverton. “It is a miracle that he survived the fire.”

Kristen, a vet tech in Silverton, gave this update on the fire aftermath and Guacamole and Toes. “Silverton Cat Rescue suffered a devastating fire. I fostered the surviving burn victims. EmerAid helped give them the added nutrition they needed for healing. Thank you for your generous donation to our rescue.”

(Update as of March 1, 2023: Guacamole was adopted and is in his new home!)
