An adult raccoon was admitted to our clinic on March 1, 2022. after she was found on a woman’s porch.

Upon examination, rehabbers discovered that she had a concussion, abscessed tooth, internal bleeding, and some superficial abrasions, likely from a scuffle with another animal. Radiographs also revealed a hairline fracture to her sinus cavity, for which our vets prescribed heavy doses of pain medications, as well as cage rest.

She was placed on courses of other medications to treat her various other injuries. Once she was stable enough for surgery, she received a tooth extraction for her affected canine tooth. Afterward, she required a post-operative diet of EmerAid IC Omnivore mixed with various types of soft foods to fulfill her nutritional needs and allow her time to heal.

After two weeks, she was able to receive regular solid food. Once her other injuries were fully treated, she was released back to her territory on April 24, 2022.
