Injured Raccoon Hid Under Porch

The following story about a raccoon was shared with us by Wild At Hart Wildlife Rehabilitation in Ohio.

We received an injured adult raccoon that had been found denning under a porch. She had remained for several days, according to footage from a doorbell camera.

We admitted the raccoon, performing our intake exam and stabilizing her. We found she had some minor abrasions and an eye injury requiring medical attention from our veterinarian.

After treatment for her injures, providing pain medication and ensuring she was hydrated, we offered her a mixture of EmerAid IC Carnivore and Omnivore as suggested. This food allowed her digestive system the necessary time to transition back to eating again, after suspecting she had gone several days without food.

Appropriate, solid foods were gradually added to her diet as she healed, and she was ultimately released in a wonderful habitat in the area where she was found.
