Many rabbits and guinea pigs are too critical to be fed what is essentially ground pellets or hay I have been very happy with Lafeber products…I am particularly pleased with the herbivore product…I often start critical rabbits and guinea pigs on Emeraid Herbivore for 1-2 days, and then transition back to a normal diet. I have seen several cases respond more rapidly than I’d otherwise anticipate with Emeraid, perhaps due to the ease of passage through the pylorus and ease of digestion.
Dr. Lafeber’s dedication to helping wildlife is exceedingly appreciated His company’s research and development of products to meet the needs of different species has allowed us to provide better nutritional care for our critical patients. In particular, his Emeraid Carnivore and Piscivore products have helped a great many of our birds in their transition back to a normal diet. Very few companies dedicate time and effort into products for wildlife. The Lafeber Company goes a step above others in their support of those who care for these animals. Gives me confidence. Mixing the different products together in the recommended ratios gives me confidence knowing that I am feeding a product that is suitable for [my patient’s] nutritional requirements.
Very easy to use This was our first time using Emeraid. We found the product very easy to use—no lumps! (WRCNU used Emeraid Herbivore daily for the nutritional support of two young beavers. )
This product is like a miracle drug!
I have used a lot of Emeraid Omnivore and Emeraid Carnivore in songbirds. I have fed that diet to baby birds that I thought were going to die and the next morning they were BAR.
Gives me confidence.

I am passionate about this product!
Unlike the other hand-feeding products, the Emeraid line replenishes the patient’s depleted energy, fat, AND protein stores.
We use Emeraid Omnivore in birds that are not emptying the crop well or are very sick.
They digest the formula better than regular formulas, and we are able to administer less volume and still maintain body weight or gain so as to avoid regurgitation.
Emeraid products have been in our clinic since Day 1
Since the introduction of Emeraid Omnivore this product has been a staple for our critical care patients. We can count on consistency with the Emeraid powdered formulas and appreciate the ease of application, once hydrated, even through small gauge gavage needles.
There really isn’t any other product on the market like it.
We use Emeraid routinely. I find Emeraid Omnivore very beneficial in birds suffering from the GI form of PDD [proventricular dilatation disease]…the [semi-] elemental diet [provides] a nice boost for patients.
I have definitely noticed an improvement in my survival rates.
I have been very happy the Emeraid products, and my debilitated [avian] patients don’t seem to have problems with crop emptying.
This product really kickstarts their digestive system.
Just want to let you know that we have been using your product, Emeraid Exotic Carnivore for a couple of years now. We are especially impressed with this product this season as we have had numerous debilitated raptors admitted to our rehab facility. After…fluid therapy, we begin tubing Emeraid.
This product really kickstarts their digestive system. One red-tailed hawk in particular was brought to us about 6 weeks ago. This immature bird was emaciated, dehydrated and weighed only 580 grams. After 48 + hours of fluids and meds, we started feeding him via tube with Emeraid. Two days later, this bird was snatching mice from our hands! We released this gorgeous creature back into the wild just a week ago. His weight upon release had exceeded 1,100 grams.
It’s very easy to use
Obviously before P Care* was in existence we just tried to blenderize fish and to tube feed it that way and that was a real pain and so we’re really, really happy with the ‘P Care’… [F]or the first week we’ve maintained a lot of birds, 1000’s of birds, on ‘P Care’.
*Emeraid Piscivore is better known as “P Care” at the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife, Inc. (C.R.O.W.) in Sanibel Island, Florida.
