\"x-ray \"AmericanThe following story was shared with us by Appalachian Wildlife Refuge<\/a> in North Carolina.<\/em><\/p>\n

In August 2019, an American toad arrived at Appalachian Wild\u2019s facility. People found her after she was hit by (what was suspected) a car or bicycle. When she arrived she was emaciated and dehydrated. We determined she had a pelvic injury as well as neurological trauma.<\/p>\n

Fluid therapy and nutritional support were provided, with tube-feedings of EmerAid Intensive Care Carnivore<\/a>. She was stabilized and was able to heal. We watched her weight climb steadily to an ideal range with every-other-day feedings of the carnivore care, which helped improve her overall health.<\/p>\n

After a month of care and tube-feedings, she began eating on her own and has thrived since. While she sustained permanent damage to an eye, she has made a full recovery otherwise and will be released back to her home range in the spring!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
