History<\/strong><\/p>\n

EmerAid began back in 1985 when Dr. Lafeber Sr. created EmerAid I & EmerAid II to help save sick birds. These nutritional formulations were highly successful.<\/p>\n

In 2004, Susan Orosz, PHD, DVM Dipl ABVP (Avian), Dipl ECZM (Avian) requested the development of a semi-elemental, critical-care diet for pet birds. She strongly believed a properly formulated semi-elemental diet would allow many more critically ill birds to be saved. She was correct. EmerAid Omnivore<\/a> has helped veterinary professionals save countless pet psittacines, passerines, chickens, and omnivores such as squirrels.<\/p>\n

With the success of EmerAid Omnivore, the veterinary community asked for semi-elemental, critical-care diets for carnivores and herbivores. EmerAid Carnivore<\/a> and EmerAid Herbivore<\/a> were released in 2007 and 2008, respectively, and both have been very successful.<\/p>\n

The EmerAid System for Exotic Animal Critical Care<\/a> involves mixing all three EmerAid diets in various combinations for different species.\u00a0 This allows an appropriate critical-care diet to be mixed for most species.<\/p>\n

In 2010, the Gulf oil spill highlighted that an improved EmerAid was needed for seabirds. With the help of Dr. Becky Duerr, DVM, PhD, EmerAid Piscivore <\/a>\u00a0was tested and first sold in 2011. It is now part of the International Bird Rescue\u2019s feeding protocol for severely debilitated seabirds. It has been so successful with seabirds that now veterinarians and rehabilitators use it to help save debilitated seals.<\/p>\n

Members of veterinary community asked if our EmerAid Critical Care System could be used for canines and felines. Technically, these products could be used, but because they were not designed for the specific nutritional needs of felines and canines, they were not recommended.<\/p>\n

After four years of research, in January 2015 our EmerAid Critical Care HDN<\/span> and EmerAid Sustain HDN Recovery<\/span> were introduced at the North American Veterinary Conference. Years of demand by veterinary professionals drove the creation of separate feline and canine emergency foods.<\/p>\n
